Introducing the Warren Christopher Old World collection, which celebrates the rich heritage of custom wood flooring originally crafted for the Italian grand palaces along Venice’s Grand Canal. Drawing inspiration from the timeless Venetian traditions and techniques used in 15th-century. The finishes in the Old world collection feature unique color shades created from natural mineral pigments sourced from caves, including Carrara marble and other minerals. You read that right, the colors are made from crushed mineral pigments.
This collection starts with boards that have been carefully salvaged, then seasoned outdoors for many years. Each piece undergoes a meticulous selection process and manual treatment of the wood grain, preserving its authentic character without the use of machinery.
The flooring boasts a high quality structure consisting of a thick wear layer of 5-6mm and a supportive layer of premium phenolic marine plywood, bonded together with natural vinyl glue. This construction makes the flooring resilient to water and humidity, two major challenges in water front Italian cities.
With an emphasis on bespoke craftsmanship, the surface of each board embodies a unique materiality and softness, giving the floors an elegant, handmade aesthetic. The lightness imparted by the finishing process, combined with artisan skill, results in distinct shades while retaining the natural warmth of real White Oak wood, reminiscent of the techniques used by ancient Venetian craftsmen.
